Frequently Asked Questions

Everdure 4K

What can I do if something is broken?

Contact us for support.

What can I do if my core thermometers do not work?

Do not put them in the dishwasher! The thermometers are not waterproof and should not be immersed in water. Contact us for support.

Why does it take a long time for the charcoal to ignite?

Make sure that the fuel is always stored in a dry place. It may take a long time to ignite moist fuel. For best results we recommend natural charcoal. Although briquettes can be used, they may take longer to ignite due to the non-combustible materials in the briquettes.

How can I prevent the oven from overheating?

The 4K is built to retain heat and only requires a very small amount of charcoal to reach +250 degrees. We recommend starting with 200 - 300 grams of charcoal. Overloading the 4K with charcoal is a waste of time and money and may result in damage to the 4K and/or spoiled food.

What should I do if the Bluetooth connection is weak or drops out?

Reset your device. Update the firmware on your device. Make sure the 4K is in a place where there are no obstacles. Stay within 10 meters of the 4K for best results. Contact Everdure for support.

The screen is difficult to read in sunlight, what should I do?

The 4K should not be used in direct sunlight. The display is equipped with anti-reflective (matte) glass. We recommend placing the 4K in a shady area, protected from wind and rain. We also recommend downloading the app that will send the product data to your device via Bluetooth.

How can I prevent the 4K from tripping the RCD/fuse box?

When the appliance is in wet conditions, the electrical element may cause a ground fault. Do not attempt to repair the device. Contact Everdure for support.

What should I do if the power supply is interrupted?

Check if the LED display works by pressing the power button. Check that the cord is still plugged in. Check that the retractable cord is not extended too long as this may interrupt power. Contact Everdure for support.

How do I prevent or wake the 4K from sleep?

Any fluctuation in oven temperature will automatically wake the 4K from sleep mode, but you can wake the 4K from sleep mode or wake it up manually by connecting to the 4K via Bluetooth or setting a timer.

Is data lost during sleep mode?

No. Data, such as the current temperature and time, still runs in the background.

What is 'sleep mode' and why does this happen?

If the oven temperature remains unchanged for 5 minutes, the display will switch to energy saving mode, also called "sleep mode". If the product is used for many hours at a stable and low temperature, continuously displaying the same information is a waste of energy. If the user accidentally turns it on, it will go back to sleep mode if the temperature doesn't change.

What is the size of the cooking surface?

The diameter of the cooking surface is 46 cm, but most people also want to know the cooking zone. Cast iron x 2 + s/sx 2 (total 4-piece grill cooking area). Total cooking area = 277088 (mm2) = 429.5 (sq.in)

What are the charcoal tongs and side door for?

Instead of having to open and close the hood to add fuel, we have developed a system that allows the user to add coal or chips to the firebox through the side wall. This allows heat to remain and the user does not have to stop cooking while refilling.

Are the probes washable?

Yes, but we do not recommend putting them in the dishwasher.

How does it know the temperature of the oven and the food?

The 4K has 2 x surrounding tubes in the hood and 4 removable feeding tubes.

How much power does it use?

1400W for less than 10 minutes (ignition) and then very low wattage.

Can I use wood in 4K?

Yes, but we recommend small pieces of wood or chips. Large pieces of wood will result in overheating and spoiled food.

How much charcoal do I need for 3-4 hours of roasting?

Not much thanks to the thermal insulation properties of this product - it is super efficient to use. Depending on the type of charcoal used and of course, local weather conditions, approximately 150 - 200 grams of charcoal per hour is all that is needed to maintain a great roasting temperature.

Is the pizza stone dishwasher safe?

Technically yes. However, the material is porous, so if washing liquid gets trapped you can get a soapy taste to your pizza. We recommend a stiff brush and some warm water.

Are there other accessories in the box?

Yes, a 33 cm cordierite pizza stone, a water reservoir, charcoal tongs, grill tongs and a grill clip are included as standard.

Which grill grates come with the 4K?

2x stainless steel grills and 2x porcelain enameled cast iron grills.

Where's the cool touch?

The product is cool-touch on the outer frame and stand (with the exception of the upper ventilation section) thanks to its double-walled construction and the use of heat-resistant material. The 4K is cool-to-touch up to a maximum operating temperature of 220°C with the hood down.

Is this a BBQ or a smoker?

It's both. The 4K can do everything your oven can do and more. Combining the latest technology and only the best materials, the 4K can cook, roast, grill and even perform as a pizza oven at a high temperature range.

Everdure Hub II

Can you cook whole pigs on the HUB II?

The HUB is designed to rotate up to 40 kg of balanced weight. The HUB can hold up to 40kg of boned pork feet, beef steaks or boned lamb shoulder backs/legs successfully every time, as long as it is balanced and secured to the HUB rotisserie pole. A whole pig on the other hand is heavy in weight across the body and you will find that 20kg+ pigs will be too long for the entire length of the HUB. For best results we recommend purchasing a suckling pig that weighs no more than 12kg - which will take approximately 4-5 hours on the highest setting. You need more concentrated heat under the pig's legs and shoulders. The breast/belly will cook faster, so use a little less charcoal in those areas.

Are accessories available?

Yes. We offer a wide collection of accessories with a detailed description and photos.

Where should I store my BBQ?

When you are not using the BBQ, keep it in a well protected area. For the best protection we recommend covering the BBQ with an Everdure by Heston Premium cover to prevent weather damage.

How should you maintain the stainless steel charcoal grill?

After each use, clean the grill with warm soapy water to remove ash residue. Ash that has built up and then hardened can trap moisture from the air and cause premature erosion and discoloration. Remove hardened ash with some soapy water and a fine wire brush. After cleaning, let the rack dry and lightly soak with some vegetable oil. Place the part back in the black tray and cover the barbecue with an Everdure by Heston premium cover.

How often should I clean my BBQ?

Once the BBQ has cooled, a simple wipe is enough. We recommend cleaning your barbecue after each use, but do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive wiring as this may damage the protective coating on the grills and housing. To make cleaning easier, the firebox is designed with minimal corners and joints, which can trap grease. You can oil the racks before and after use to prevent food from sticking.

Can I put the racks and Cliplock Forks in the dishwasher after use?

We do not recommend cleaning these parts in the dishwasher. Due to the different chemical ingredients found in dishwasher detergents, parts of it can discolour. We recommend warm soapy water with a low chemical content.

Can I store the rotisserie rod and Cliplock forks in the built-in storage?

Yes, you can always access your barbecue's storage area, but be extra careful when it's lit. The contents may then be very hot.

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes, if it is approved for outdoor use.

Can I switch the element back on while cooking?

For added safety, the HUB II, HUB and FUSION have overheat protection, which may prevent the element from reactivating until the grill cools down. How does this work? If you add more coal while cooking and press the Fast Flame Ignition button, the element will only activate when the BBQ has dropped below the preset temperature. If it doesn't light, it usually means the charcoal will light up quickly without a stop.

The handles on the HUB II are 'cool-yet'; does this mean I don't need to wear heat resistant gloves?

Cool-touch handles are a great safety feature, but we always recommend using heat protective gloves when operating your FUSION, HUB, or HUB II BBQ.

Can I add more charcoal while cooking?

Yes. The grids are designed to make refilling easy, but you should consult your manual to check the maximum recommended limits.

Can the FUSION, HUB or HUB II be used indoors?

No. Like most barbecues, these are designed for outdoor use.

Which charcoal should I use?

For optimal performance we recommend natural charcoal. The Fast Flame ignition system can light briquettes at the touch of a button, but due to the wide differences in ingredients used by different manufacturers, we cannot guarantee their ignition time.

How do I set up my rotisserie?

The forks and bars are all stored in the small storage area on the side of the product. Simply press each pole to release it from its storage position and select one of 3 defined heights. Place the meat on the rotisserie pole and secure it with the Cliplock Forks. Insert the end of the rod into the rotisserie pole, press the on switch on the front (marked with arrows) and you are ready to cook.

How much weight can I add?

The HUB motor has a weight of 40 kg. Before purchasing meat, it is important to measure the length so that you can be sure that it will fit the barbecue. The HUB has a lot of power and can easily hold a sucking pig. If you want rotisserie meat that contains a large bone, such as a leg of lamb, ask your butcher to remove the bone and roll it before taking it home.

There is a noise coming from the engine, is this normal?

The engine may periodically produce a noise. To reduce this, we recommend applying a small amount of lubricant to the engine drive shaft before using it for the first time. To help maintain the engine during periodic use, we recommend adding a small amount of lubricant once a month. Clean regularly with a damp cloth to maintain smooth rotation. Please do not flood the engine with lubricant as it may drip into the BBQ and cause a chemical smell.

How do I remove the rod once the meat is ready?

We always recommend using heat resistant gloves when handling the rotisserie. Be sure to turn off the engine before attempting to remove the rod. Once the engine has stopped running, lift the cover on the left post and firmly grip the handle. With your other hand, grab the other end of the post and carefully remove it from the engine drive shaft. Place the meat and rod on the large cooking area and let it rest. Once cooled, remove the forks and rod from the meat and prepare to serve. Remember: never attempt to remove the rod with just one hand and never remove it while the engine is still running. Failure to follow these steps may result in injury and/or product damage. We always recommend removing the rod from the HUB with 2 people.

How long can I run the engine?

We recommend using the HUB rotisserie for a maximum of 6 hours at a time. If you want to cook longer, make sure the BBQ and parts can cool down before starting again.

Everdure Cube

What type of charcoal can I use?

The CUBE can be used with natural charcoal or briquettes. Consult the user manual for maximum quantities.

Charcoal can be ignited by placing a small fire starter under the charcoal rack. We recommend natural firelighters (such as compressed wood cubes that do not contain chemicals).

I want to use my CUBE on the beach, is this okay?

The CUBE makes a great picnic BBQ, but always use caution. The BBQ has a heat protection shield on the bottom, but if this area is blocked (for example by deep sand or long grass) the heat cannot escape and could damage your barbecue. Always keep the bottom of the BBQ free of obstructions and never use it on a picnic blanket or the like. If you use your CUBE on the beach, always dispose of the used coal responsibly.

Can I use my CUBE on a table?

If the correct amount of charcoal is used and the bottom of the BBQ is clear, you can use your CUBE on tables that can withstand a temperature of 80 degrees C above the current ambient temperature.

There are handles on the side, does this mean the product can be moved during use?

The handles are designed to minimize heat transfer. Because charcoal is very hot, select a suitable location for cooking and do not move the barbecue until the charcoal has cooled. Never handle the outside during use and always try to wear heat-resistant gloves when cooking.

How do I remove hot coals when I'm done?

Always dispose of hot coals responsibly. Never leave them in the sand on the beach, grass or in public storage areas. We always recommend waiting until the coals have cooled completely and placing any remaining ash in a galvanized bucket or tin. Always use caution when handling hot ashes.

Why do you recommend using aluminum foil under the black charcoal tray?

Aluminum foil on the bottom of the charcoal tray catches any residue of grease, dirt and ash during cooking, making the cleaning process easier. The aluminum foil also acts as a deflector of heat. This helps prevent discoloration of the paint due to accidental overloading with charcoal.

How often do you recommend cleaning the BBQ?

The CUBE must be cleaned after each use. Remember to remove used aluminum foil and use only warm, soapy water, not harsh chemicals that could damage the product.

Where should I store the CUBE when it is not in use?

We recommend using the CUBE travel bag for storage when not in use. Any storage area should be dry and protected from the elements.

Everdure Furnace

Should I cook with the hood up or down?

The FURNACE and FORCE are designed to be used in both directions. With the option to cook with the hood up and the benefits of convection heating when you cook with the hood down. Perfect for Sunday roasts. Don't forget to preheat your BBQ for 5 minutes (depending on the ambient temperature) before you start.

How do I cook with the hood down?

The FURNACE has three burners and the FORCE has two burners, so the technology is slightly different, but the convection science is still the same. The idea of convection heating is to cook slowly and at a low temperature. When the hood is down, we recommend using only one burner on low or medium setting (depending on the weather). Place the meat on the part with the burners completely off, this generates a large 360 degree hot air flow around the meat without scorching the bottom (the indirect method). Remember to NEVER leave the burners with the hood down for more than 5 minutes, the BBQ will overheat. For even better results, try the Everdure by Heston Blumenthal roasting rack.

Can I use the FORCE or FURNACE on a table?

Yes. Both barbecues are designed to be used on or next to the stand. Consult your owner's manual for assistance in determining if an area is suitable to place your BBQ for use.

Should I use lava stones or burning gel?

No. The BBQ grills are designed with integrated flames. This prevents oils and juices from falling directly onto the burners (to help reduce flare-ups).

Are the BBQ plates and grills dishwasher safe?

The plates and racks on the FURNACE and FORCE are coated in porcelain enamel (which helps retain heat and helps prevent food from sticking to the surface). Dish soap can break down the porcelain enamel over time, so we don't recommend putting them in the dishwasher. To extend their life, clean them after use with non-abrasive scouring pads and soapy water.

Do I need a cover for my BBQ?

Although the FURNACE and FORCE are made from die-cast aluminum (which will not rust), we always recommend using an Everdure by Heston Premium cover to protect the paint from sun fading or UV damage. The products should never be stored for long periods without a cover in a damp place.

Are accessories available?

We have a wide range of various accessories. On the home screen you will find a tab with 'accessories' on it. If you then click on it, the accessories will appear.
